Thoughts from the kitchen table

Well, it's Sunday and Dr Who was fabulous last night as always!!! I remember hiding behind a cushion and CMM does the same all these years later.

We went to Lidl the cheapest shop on the planet (unless you know better) this afternoon. Just amazing for bargains. I still don't buy their meat etc. but they are fab for a varied array of items.

Stayed at CMJ's last night - she has a kitten. We are a bit worried about her because she was going absolutely mental for hours. I think she has worms and is always hungry, although she's being treated for worms at the moment, I think CMJ is taking her to the vet tomorrow. Meanwhile I am bitten and scratched all over my legs and hands. It didn't help that because of the intense sun I wore a kaftan with tassels around the bottom. Kitten heaven!!

We had a barbie and then realised before we'd finished that Dr Who was 5 mins away so we just went inside to watch it and the seagulls came and ate the burgers and rolls and new potatoes which were still outside. They stood on the burning barbeque to eat the stuff - how crazy is that?

Must go, am starving and intend to cook duck for dinner, so I'd better go and get it started.

Be good see you soon.

Thoughts from the kitchen table

Hi, Cookiemonster here!

Well, there was the usual argument before my family left. They are my daughter and granddaughter and you'll get used to them and to me, we are all forthright in our views and unafraid to speak them so we start in a state of argument. Don't be fooled - we adore each other and are really close.

Cookiemonster jr (CMJ) is my daughter and Cookiemonster minor (CMM) is my granddaughter. CMM is nearly 9 years old and is pictured here on the banks of a loch.

They've gone to meet a friend for lunch and then they'll be back because tonight is Dr Who night and that's sacred in this house!! They don't live with me by the way, but we are often together.

My computer is in the bedroom and so is the kitchen which was delivered in February!! So the kitchen table isn't exactly there yet. But my great passion is cooking so you'll find a lot of food references, recipes and other related topics in this blog!!

Enough for now. Hope you will keep touching base with us to see what we're up to and what is making us happy, sad or mad. Opinions will abound - be sure of that!!!

Later......
